How to Pack a Toiletries for Moving?

packing toiletries

You might think packing toiletries is the easiest part of moving. After all, they’re just small items that can fit into any box, right? Wrong. Packing toiletries for a move requires much more care than packing other things. Toiletries are usually made up of liquids or semi-liquids, which means they can leak and cause damage to other items in your boxes.

Plus, toiletries like shampoo bottles, conditioner, soap, and other beauty products aren’t just the problem. You also have your collection of razors, hair dryers, curling iron, straightener, and other electrical items. So how do you pack these items without creating a huge mess?

Sort out your toiletries

The first step in packing your toiletries is to sort them out. Go through your products and decide which ones you need to keep and which you can live without. If you haven’t used a product in a while, chances are you won’t use it during the move either. So get rid of anything that’s expired or that you don’t need.

Next, organize your products into groups. Put your hair care products, your skincare products together, and so on. This will make it easier later on.

Medicine in the cupboard

If you have any medicine that needs refrigeration, pack it in a cooler with ice packs. Otherwise, please leave it in the cupboard.

Make sure to pack all your prescriptions and any over-the-counter medications you might need during the move. And don’t forget to pack a first-aid kit!

If you have any liquid medicine, such as cough syrup, put it in plastic wrap and sealable plastic bags to prevent leaks.

Pack all your medicine in a backpack or small suitcase so you can easily carry it during the move.

Towels and linens

If you’re packing your toiletries in advance, pack bathroom items in a box or suitcase and store them in the bathroom. This way, you won’t have to pack them again when it’s time to move.

Pack all your towels and linens in one trip, so you don’t have to go back and forth to the bathroom. This includes your bath mat, shower curtain, and other bathroom accessories.

If you have a lot of towels and linens, you might want to pack them in separate boxes or bags, so they’re easier to carry.

Accessories and Appliances

Your hair dryer, curling iron, and other electrical items can also be packed in a box or suitcase. Pack them carefully and correctly, so they don’t break during the move.

If you have any battery-operated, such as a toothbrush or razor, pack the batteries separately. This way, you won’t have to worry about them leaking and causing damage to your other belongings.

Pack your cosmetics, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and other beauty products in one container. And don’t forget to pack a toiletry bag for all your essential items!

Cosmetics

Start by packing your powder products, such as foundation, eyeshadow, and blush. These can be packed in a cosmetic bag or box.

Next, pack your liquid products, such as mascara, eyeliner, and lipstick. These should be packed in a sealable plastic bag to prevent leaks.

Finally, pack your creams and lotions in a zip-top bag. This will keep them from leaking and ruining your other belongings.

Make sure to pack all of your makeup brushes and other tools in specialized makeup bags.

And don’t forget to pack a travel-sized makeup bag for all your essential items!

Paper and feminine products

Pack any paper products, such as toilet paper or tissues, in a box or bag. And don’t forget to pack your feminine hygiene products, too! Separate them into a zip-top bag to keep them from leaking.

You’ll also want to pack a small trash can for all of your garbage. This will make it easy to keep your bathroom clean during the move.

Toiletries and hair product

Toiletries and hair products such as shampoo, conditioner, and hairspray can be packed in a box or suitcase. Seal them carefully in a zip-top bag to prevent leaks.

You can pack your toothbrush, toothpaste, and other personal items in a toiletry bag. This way, you won’t have to rummage through your boxes when you need them.

Cleaning supplies and other chemicals

Cleaning supplies and other chemicals such as bleach and drain cleaner should be packed in a tightly sealed container as they contain dangerous substances and fumes. Remember to pack cleaning supplies carefully.

Fire extinguishers, bug sprays, and other flammable or poisonous items should also be appropriately packed to avoid accidents.

But it is recommended to donate or dispose of these items before moving as they can be difficult and dangerous to transport. Just buy new ones when you get to your new home.

Lastly, pack any tools or equipment you might need to clean your new home, such as a mop, broom, and vacuum cleaner.

Organize and purge your bathroom supplies

It’s unbelievable that you own many types of shampoo, conditioner, soap, and other beauty products. But when you’re moving, it’s an excellent opportunity to go through your belongings and get rid of anything you don’t need. Just looking through the bottles and containers in your bathroom can be daunting and make you wish you had less. But if you take packing step by step, it’ll be much easier to handle.

Items not allowed for moving

There are certain things that you cannot pack when you’re moving. These include:

-Aerosol cans: These can explode and cause damage to your belongings.

– Bleach: This dangerous chemical should be packed in a sealed container.

– Drain cleaner: This corrosive chemical should be packed in a sealed container.

– Fire extinguishers: These are flammable and should be packed in a sealed container.

– Bug spray: This is a flammable and poisonous chemical that should be packed in a sealed container.

– Nail polish remover: This flammable liquid should be packed in a sealed container.

Moving can be a hard time, but by being organized and knowing what you can and cannot pack, it’ll be much easier. Just be mindful of the items you bring or ask yourself if they are worth bringing to your new home.

How to pack toiletries

Toiletries are small but essential items that we use every day. When packing them for a move, you must be mindful of their size, fragility, and contents. Now that you have learned how to sort your items and know what you need to bring, it’s time to start packing your toiletries! Here are some tips on how to do so:

Ensure you pack essential bathroom bags

Make sure you have all the necessary bags to pack your toiletries. This includes a small travel-sized makeup bag for all your essential cosmetic items, a zip-top bag for any liquids or gels, and a container for any cleaning supplies.

Ensure fragile bathroom items

Next, you’ll want to take extra care with any fragile items, such as bottles of perfume or glass containers. Wrap them securely in packing paper or bubble wrap and place them in a box lined with soft towels or blankets. Label the box as “fragile” so your movers know how to handle it with care.

Boxes should be lined and padded

Be sure to line any boxes you’ll be using with soft towels or blankets to prevent breakage. One option is to place smaller items inside larger ones for extra padding. Lining and padding them will help protect your belongings during the move.

Store bathroom liquids safely

When packing any liquids or gels, use a zip-top bag to prevent leaks. For extra safety, you can also place the bag inside another container, such as Tupperware. Preventing leaks is essential to avoid any damage during the move.

Take care of your toiletries

Make sure to pack all of your toiletries in a place where they won’t get lost or damaged. The good idea is to keep them in your carry-on or overnight bag. This way, you’ll have easy access and can avoid packing and unpacking them multiple times.

Take advantage of the padding power of towels and washcloths

Towels and washcloths are great for padding and protecting your belongings. You can use them to wrap around any bottles and containers or place them at the bottom of a box to add extra cushioning. It will help keep your items from shifting around.

Medicine should be kept nearby

Like some of your essential toiletries, any prescription medicine or over-the-counter drugs should be kept with you in your carry-on bag. This way, you’ll have easy access and can avoid packing and unpacking them multiple times. You might need them during your move, so it’s best to be prepared.

Seal and Label all your bathroom boxes

Be sure to seal all your boxes with packing tape, inspect all the edges, and label them accordingly. You can use a sharpie or stickers to label them “bathroom,” “toiletries,” or “fragile.” This will help your movers know where to place the boxes and how to handle them.
